An easy to prepare starter which will impress your guests. This starter is often served as part of a meze (varied small appetiser size dishes). Served with ouzo or a glass of crisp white wine.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg beef liver

  • 1 tablespoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon pepper

  • 1 tablespoon oregano

  • ½ cup plain flour

  • canola oil (for frying)

  • lemon wedges

Instructions

  • Cut beef livers into small pieces. fried beef liver recipe
  • Apply salt, pepper and oregano over livers.
  • Turn livers over, ensuring salt, pepper and oregano coats both sides of the livers.
  • Lightly apply plain flour on both sides of the liver, setting aside.
  • In a shallow pot, add canola oil and fry livers, turning over until cooked through.
  • Apply cooked livers on a paper towel to soak any excess oil (up to 5 minutes).
  • Serve with lemon wedges or your favourite dipping sauce.
