minutesBougatsa is a dish that has a long history, starting from Byzantium. Bougatsa is considered to be the best breakfast with your frappe or your Greek coffee and is also ideal after a good night out.
Our version of the bougatsa has only 3 ingredients. It is delicious quick and easy to make.
Ingredients
15 – 16 phyllo pastry sheets
250 gr melted butter
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
Instructions
- Butter a rectangular oven pan.
- Place the phyllo pastry sheets one by one like an accordion on the bottom of the pan and spread half of the melted butter (See below pictures).
- Add the other half of the phyllo pastry sheets on top of the first layer and pour in the rest of the melted butter.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180 Celsius for 20 minutes or until the phyllo pastry is golden brown colour.
- In a bowl pour the sweetened milk and 1 & 1/2 can of water (after emptying the condensed milk we measure the amount of water with the can) and mix.
- Pour the liquid mixture over the pan and bake for another 15-20 minutes.
- Sprinkle with icing sugar and cinnamon powder.
Notes
- If you want a thicker consistency of the condensed milk and you have a big oven tray use 2 condensed cans and 2 cans of water instead of 1 condensed milk and one and a half cans of water.
